Karien Hunter founded the well known KwaZulu Natal law firm, AMC HUNTER INC, in 1987.
Karien Hunter has 30 years experience in the legal profession. After completing a B Iuris Degree at Potchefstroom University, she completed an LLB degree with UNISA in 1983, during which period of time she was employed as a Public Prosecutor by the Department of Justice and as an Administrator of Estates with a large banking group.
The practice is responsible for the registration of a large number of property transactions each month in the Deeds Office, and manages and controls between R40 and R50m per month in their trust account on behalf of various clients. The practice is on the panel of selected conveyancers of First National Bank, ABSA Bank, Standard Bank and Nedbank as well as the private banks, RMB and on the referral panel of BOE and Investec Bank.
In addition to this, Karien Hunter through the law practice of AMC HUNTER INC, provides an oversight to a large number of charitable trusts and manages the funds of these trusts through the trust account of AMC HUNTER INC.
Karien Hunter was Business Woman of the Year for KwaZulu Natal, professional category in 2007, and runner-up in the Women in Property Awards of the WIPN sponsored by Nedbank.
She is married to Stephen Hunter and they have three grown up sons.
Karien Hunter now heads up the operations of the Gatekeeper Foundation Trust. |
